Low Nose |
Most Korean women who want a rhinoplasty have this type of nose. Rather than simply raising the nose, it is important to consider the shape of the forehead, lips and surrounding tissue and to separately build the nasal ridge and tip in proper shapes. Augmenting the nasal ridge and tip with a single implant is the wrong method which does not use an understanding of general nose shapes and cannot produce
a natural-looking, pretty nasal tip. |
Upturned/Short Nose |
The angle between the columella and lips normally ranges from 90° to 110°. An upturned nose has a short length, exposes the nostrils and has an angle of over 110°. Since this type of nose is small and short and has a small amount and size of septal cartilage, skill and know-how are required to safely harvest enough septal cartilage. |
Aquiline Nose |
The nasal ridge of an aquiline nose is protruded due to overly developed nasal bone or cartilage. This type of nose generally has a long and sagging nasal tip, rarely a low or upturned one. Since such noses give a strong and rugged image, the nasal ridge needs to be smoothed. |
Bulbous Nose |
Blunt nasal tip and wide and round wings give a dull, inelegant image. This type of nose is formed if nasal alar cartilage is overly developed or spread sideways, or if there is too much fat under the nasal
tip skin. |
Crooked Nose |
A crooked nose has a protruded or crooked nasal ridge. This type of nose is due to a crooked nasal bone or crooked nasal lateral, alar or septal cartilage, and each one needs to be examined and corrected. Such noses are mostly formed by injury and to correct it, all crooked parts need to be straightened. If the nasal septal cartilage is severely crooked (nasal septal deviation), nose passages would be blocked and cause difficulty in breathing. In such cases, functional correction needs to be performed with plastic surgery. |

Arrow-Shaped/Long Nose |
An arrow-shaped (long) nose has a drooping tip and long length. If a nose is longer than one third of the facial length, the face looks old and is out of balance. This type of nose is likely to have overly developed septal cartilage, and it would have the tip drooping in an arrowhead shape if the muscle pulling the nasal tip (depressor septi muscle) is overworked. |
