Review Blepharoplasty |
A review blepharoplasty is performed essentially due to aesthetic or functional dissatisfaction with primary surgery. Taking much more effort and time, review surgery is difficult and important. Early revision is performed within one month, but reoperation is mostly advisable six months after primary surgery. Generally, patients are recommended to have review surgery after enough time or at least six months when post-surgery adhesions are loosened. |

Review Surgery Types |
Overly Weak or Loosened Double Eyelid Folds |
When double eyelid folds were formed at excessively low heights or loosely fastened. Review surgery is recommended immediately within one month of primary surgery. |
Double Eyelid Folds at Noticeably Differing Heights |
Each eye is separately created and then connected to one other during embryonic development and the two eyes are supposed to be different. Hence double eyelid folds made by surgery can’t be perfectly identical. However, if the folds on each side look distinctively different, surgical correction is required. Such noticeable asymmetry is due to different heights or depths of double eyelid folds from primary surgery. Review surgery corrects the heights of the folds suitable for each individual. It is more effective to correct both eyes for symmetry. |
Too Short Double Eyelid Folds Turned Into Inside Folds |
The double eyelid folds were made at overly low heights or underwent premature skin sagging, and early review surgery is likely to be successful. If double eyelid folds have proper heights but severe skin sagging, extra skin is resected. |
Overly High Double Eyelid Folds |
Early review surgery is recommended, and if unavailable, reoperation is advisable six months after primary surgery. Review surgery loosens all adhesions at the upper eyelid areas from primary surgery, prevents new adhesions using fat tissue, and makes new double eyelid folds at appropriate heights. |
Multiple Eyelid Folds |
These appear mainly in elderly people who have natural facial wrinkles, and disappear in a two to three months’ time. If they remain, they are surgically corrected. |
Too Deep and Scarring Double Eyelid Folds |
Review surgery excises the severe scar tissue, and if the double eyelid folds are too deep, they are made shallower at the same time. |
Sunken Eyes after Double Eyelid Surgery |
These are due to excessive fat removal from primary surgery. Review surgery grafts fat, or pulls down the curled up fat to fill the sunken area. |
