Instead of the titanium fixing pins and screws that were previously
used for fixing bones during facial contouring surgery, Clean Facial
Contouring uses absorbable pins and screws (OSTEOTRANSTM)
that are merged with and absorbed into the bones.

The absorbable pins and screws maintain their coherence and
are completely absorbed into the body without a trace. A year
after surgery an X-ray or CT scan shows clean pictures of bones
with no pins or screws.

Braun’s Clean Facial Contouring with OSTEOTRANS ™

OSTEOTRANSTM is the absorbable plate and screw made from a uniform
composite of PLLA (poly-L-lactide) and u-Ha (hydroxyapatite).
PLLA had been used solely and its weakness was a problem. Therefore,
u-HA, the main component of bone, was added and a new material
was created which can help regeneration of weakened bones after
surgery, a function called osteoconduction. This new bio-absorbable
material fixes resected bone for six months with bending strength as
high as titanium.
