Before deciding surgery –
Reading reviews here helped me a lot so I also would like to be helpful for those who are considering or just went through the surgery. It’s been a month after the surgery.
I am 46. While growing up, I was very self-conscious about my facial shape which was flat and wide. Though, since I didn’t have any protruding cheeks or chin, I only covered my face with hair down wearing high heels. Once I decided the surgery, my friends told me off saying “are you aware of all the side effects, though?”. However, as getting older, asymmetry was becoming worse. Plus, I wanted to improve my wide facial shape too so I went ahead.
During the first consultation with the doctor at Braun, he said as a result of the surgery, the asymmetry in my face would improve, and I would get a much more trendy look. Also he said that considering my age, sagginess would occur so he would cut off bone in moderation, which made me give him more trust.
I felt like he already knew what I needed and wanted so I made a reservation for the surgery without checking on other clinics at all. On the surgery day, the doctor again explained everything in detail, yet I can’t remember anything as I was very nervous at the time.
Once I woke up from the anesthesia, my face was covered with the bandage and everything was already done. I felt so nauseous that I even threw up but after taking some pain killer, it became all good. While having the bandage on my face, everything was very tough like drinking water, etc. However, once it got off, I felt much better and I enjoyed how better the swelling got every day. On the 2nd week, the stitches inside my mouth got out(It’s not as painful as I thought). Then, the big swelling was gone away. At first, there was not much of bruising, yet 4 days after the surgery, I had yellow bruises under my eyes, which took about one week to go away. Until the 2nd week, because of stitches inside, I couldn’t eat much, which made me lose weight.
It’s been a month now and the incision site inside became swollen and hard due to contracture. I still have some numbness but have tingling sensation somehow, which I think because my sensation is coming back.
On the day I got the bandage off, my friend was surprised at how smaller my face got. On the first week, my other friend said I look now much more feminine, and my facial line bacme so much better. She said she should get the square jaw surgery too. Asymmetry was improved a lot, which I was able to recognize after the swelling’s gone. If there is anyone hesitant for the surgery because of age, I would like to encourage you to get it now because you are younger now than tomorrow!
